After lunch I decided to work on a project. To run the swamp cooler when the main water system isn't available I need to have power in the toilet closet so I can plug in the 12vdv submersible pump. That is where the black water tank roof vent pipe is located. I previously ran a water line through the vent pipe up to the swamp cooler. I later installed a shutoff valve in the toilet closet so I can shut off the water going to the swamp cooler. The other end of the line connects to the system water line going to the toilet."}],"markDefs":[],"style":"normal"},{"_key":"0e133a2287b5","_type":"block","children":[{"_key":"0e133a2287b50","_type":"span","marks":[],"text":"To get power I ran a spare power cable from a ceiling light fixture to where the vent line penetrated the ceiling. I disconnected the line that goes from the shutoff valve to the swamp cooler and connected it to the line that comes out of the submersible pump. After it was all conducted I plugged in the pump and it worked. Actually it didn't work and I had to reconnect both wires at the light fixture. The power wire I used had smaller gauge wires than the crimp splices I used were designed for. I had to strip off twice the length of insulation and fold the wires over to get a good connection."}],"markDefs":[],"style":"normal"},{"_key":"3040ca104c44","_type":"block","children":[{"_key":"3040ca104c440","_type":"span","marks":[],"text":"After finally getting good power and ground at the plug I tried the pump again and it powered up. I filled a large pan of water and placed it on the shelf in the closet and then put the pump in. I plugged it in and sure enough it pumped water up to the swamp cooler. I hope to find a two-way valve to replace the shutoff valve. That way I can easily switch from system water to the submersible pump."}],"markDefs":[],"style":"normal"},{"_key":"dc250865477b","_type":"block","children":[{"_key":"dc250865477b0","_type":"span","marks":[],"text":"The wind died down shortly before dark and I drove on to Quartzite.
